Collingwood defender John Noble has requested a trade to a club outside of Victoria, citing family reasons as the motivation behind his decision. Despite being contracted for another two years with the Pies, the 27-year-old is seeking a fresh start, with Gold Coast emerging as his preferred destination.
Noble, who has played 112 games since being drafted with pick No.14 in the mid-season draft, endured a tough run in 2023, missing out on the Magpies’ premiership after being dropped just before the finals. However, he bounced back in 2024, regaining his place in the side and featuring in 20 games.
Collingwood list manager confirmed the trade request, stating, “John today informed us he would like to explore a trade ahead of next season to be closer to family. Whilst John is contracted, we understand the importance of family and will take this into consideration as we work through the trade period.”
Noble’s father, David, the former North Melbourne coach, now works with Dick Johnson Racing in Queensland, adding to the allure of a potential move to Gold Coast.
In addition to Noble’s potential departure, Collingwood has already delisted young ruckman Aiden Begg and farewelled retirees Nathan Murphy and Josh Carmichael as they begin reshaping their list for the next season.
